ParticipantI lost my second pilot in two days last night when the Nieuport 28 of Lt Thomas Charles was brought down by German fighters well behind the German lines. His prop shaft was hit causing a massive vibaration, meaning he had to glide to the ground. He successfully landed and evaded capture for a while, but was eventually caught and sent to Stalag 13 headed by an infamous man of questionable morals, Col Klink. There Lt Charles will sit out the rest of the war, or will he…..?????
The previous night was an Austro-Hungarian affair that saw Hansa-Brandenburg DI “Starstrutters” tangling with speedy Italian SPAD VII’s. My rookie pilot Andrej Leitkamp joined the tussle a bit late and got in a couple ineffective shots before the three SPADs ganged up on him. One of the Italian bullets found its mark, killing him instantly.
I need to lay off of VDP for a little while until I replenish my pilot roster. I need to get a few more guys through training before they’re sent into the meat grinder.

MemberWell you came back for more Sunday and Monday night, not what I would call “laying off” huh? 😆
At least your pilots survived this time around. I lost a Camel pilot with three missions on Sunday. My primary Camel pilot, Ian Baker, made it through his 12th mission tonight though. So he is my second Ace pilot on my roster. Sadly Lynn lost his Camel Ace, who happened to be named Baker as well so we just called them brothers lately, lol. So my pilot has to write home with good and bad news it seems…
So many 6’s rolled for hit this Sunday and Monday, I have truly earned my Nerf Bullets nickname.
See you next time!

ParticipantIt is all part of war, and the game. We win some and lose some. Most of all, we have a GREAT time doing it. I too am working on my pilot roster. I have gone through a reorganization of my information and found pilots I forgot I had! LOL. So, I am working on my roster to bring them up through the ranks.
Some nights, the dice are out to kill me no matter what I do. I LOVE playing this game though. I don’t think I can get burned out on it because it involves a topic I truly love, aviation. Best of all, I am meeting a lot of great new friends like yourselves. That is probably the best part of the game.
I look forward to flying with you guys online again soon. Salute!

ParticipantOne thing I found interesting was a couple weeks ago I flew a pilot I hadn’t flown for probably ten years. The last time I flew him was back when there were these webgames that ran sort of like the current e-mail games. You’d go to the website, input your move via text (there was no moving of the actual aircraft images), then the next guy up would go to the website, input his move, etc. The graphics were pretty poor but the games were sometimes pretty huge, sometimes featuring ten on ten battles. Plus, at the time there was an Aussie DP contingent who ran their own webgames as well.
This makes me wonder if there are still any Australian DP players out there? If so, maybe they’d want to play in the e-games. It’d be difficult for them to do the online games because of the time difference, but the e-games would be perfect.

ParticipantKirk,
We did have an Aussie join us for an email game not too long ago. His name was Baxter and he flew in a game that Mark Stevenson ran. I am sure there may be more but he is the only one I have run across.

MemberHi All,
Sorry but I have been on vacation and got back yesterday. I would love to join another virtual/email game if you guys are playing.
