ParticipantHi guys,
Ok new question. The 7th edition lists the starting rank of Seargent for the British.
Is that for observers and Pilots? Or am I misunderstanding?

ParticipantI would think that is just observers…but will wait for official word from Al on this one…

MemberI agree with Andrew on the ranks, if you look at the new chart that Mike did in the ‘drome, it covers it, and if you need that Jim, just let me know

ParticipantI don’t have it with me but I’m 99% certain it’s observers only.
I’ve got it now. For the British the only rank missing is Sergeant. It’s listed as a starting rank for observers only (and 50% of them at that).
The other rank lists are all correct with the updated 7th Ed chart I have, which is copyright 1993 by Mike Carr.

ParticipantIt would help me enter my roster accurately if you’d also include some additional ranks I use as valid. They fall in two categories. The first is an additional enlisted rank on some of my observer starting rank charts. Warrant Officer for the RNAS, Sergeant for the Americans, Gefreiter and Flieger for the Germans, and Korporal for the Austro-Hungarians.
The second category is the German Naval ranks. I’ll list them with their German Army equivalents in parens. Flugmeister (Gefr.), Vizeflugmeister (Ufz.), Oberflugmeister (Vzf.), Leutnant zur See (Lt.), Oberleutnant zur See (Oberlt.), and Kapitan-Leutnant (Haupt.).

ParticipantThanks Al.
I’ve been starting all my guys at seargent. I just constitutionalyy have to make things harder on myself. On the brighter side in the ten years or so I’ve been playing only two of my allied pilots have ever gotten a promotion.
