We flew 3 great missions last night, with Carl, John B, Kurt & AP in attendance.
Mission #1- Jan.1918. Carl & AP in Alb DVas vs. John & Kurt in Camels. The Germans pulled the surprise, and gave both the Allies crits. Winning initiative on the 2nd turn, the Albs continued to pound their foe, and Kurt received a wound, but luckily it was a no effect. Being that they were Camels, the Allies were able to crawl away licking their wounds and landing with 5 crits between them! Kurt finished with a bang by over-turn-flip crashing his bus and walking away from it!!!
Mission #2- Jan.1917, Italian Front. In a pea-shooter affair Kurt & Carl took up HB D1’s vs AP and John in Nieuport 11s. To make matters worse, the battle started at high altitude, so it was a slow motion battle where scoring 3 hits in one turn was a celebrated feat!! After a number of turns with minimal impact, the foes decided to part ways.
Mission #3- April 1917. John & AP in Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutters were defending against Carl in a Rumpler CIV & Kurt in a Halberstadt DII. An exciting battle ensued, where multiple head-ons were exchanged, but little results became of them. Pilots shaking their fists as observers exchanged broadsides, the 2-seaters engagaed in an all out shootout… until the Allies had to fly away to reload & could not catch up again.
