Dawn Patrol has had a following of players for nearly 40 years now, with players all over the world. As we build and develop this new site, we thought it would be neat to have a place for new users to introduce themselves to the community and see who else is out there playing our favorite game!

I will start things off, my name is Andrew Priest and I live in Minneapolis, MN. I was introduced to the game in the mid-80’s by my dad and his friends, who played regularly in college in the 70’s. I currently am a member of the ‘ghost jasta’ group that plays weekly in Minneapolis.

I encourage everyone that signs up on the site to drop a quick line here to introduce yourself! Hopefully this will be a good opportunity for those players that dont currently have a ‘regular foursome’ to connect with other locals to play.

My name is Rick Lacy and I live in Indianapolis, IN. I’ve been playing DP since April of 2000 (a relative noob compared to Al and Ken and etc, etc, etc).

Wow, that sounds kinda like an intro during a 12 step program…

    “Hi, I’m Rick Lacy, and I’m a FITS player…”

Hi, my name is Kevan Sumner and I live in Brandon, Manitoba, in the Great White North (aka Canada). I started playing DP somewhere around 18 years ago when I was introduced to it by a cousin and his friends who started playing it at university. I hadn’t played for close to a decade though, until I discovered the Dawn Patrol module for the Vassal engine. Since then, I’ve been pretty active online and have even done some of the updating of the DP vassal module. I returned to live play with a trip to the MiniCon in Milwaukee this year.

My name is Jim Robertson, and I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. I started playing Dawn Patrol in the early to mid-80’s with a group of friends from Junior High School. I honestly can’t remember when I was first introduced to it, but it’s always been one of my top 5 favorite games (along with D&D, Classic Battletech, Car Wars, Squad Leader, etc.)

In 1999, I helped to start a gaming club in our local area called GASP – The Gaming Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Our membership mailing list is almost up to 300 people, and our monthly game days regularly bring in 60 or more people. Unfortunately, Dawn Patrol has not made many appearances there. I am working to rectify this, and we have had a few members express interest in playing, but unfortunately my schedule recently has kept me from getting to our game days regularly. Hopefully that will change next month and I can start running some games again.

I first found Dawn Patrol in the mid-80s. Shortly after finding D&D the realization that there were games that were not produced by Parker Bro. or Milton Bradly opened up a whole new universe of possible games to myself and my friends. We wasted little time filling a room full of games on every subject. One of the first that attracted me as a history buff was Dawn Patrol. The rules were given to our designated rules reader and he came back and taught us all the game( Incorrectly I would discover years later). We were then off and running, playing games often times in study hall in school. After graduating in 88 I didn’t play again until 2006 when I decided to play in the GenCon Worlds largest where I learned how wrongly I had played the game all those many years ago. After GenCon I was contacted by the MN players and have been playing whenever I can.

I am Ron Currie, member of the Apache Jagdstaffel. I have been playing for about 5 years off and on, and have yet to post a pilot. I am, however, lucky enough to play with (and against) my wife a couple of times a month now.

    Hi all,

Eric Weiss, the world vagabond is signing in and letting everyone know I am back in Wisconsin.

I’ve been playing since the early 80s, when I have the time and am near fellow players.

    The new website looks awesome!

    Great to be here.

    Jim —

If you play DP in Pittsburgh, do you know Marco Fabiani? He lives in Beaver Falls, PA and used to play DP face to face with Jim Barber when Jim lived in Pittsburgh (Jim now lives in Saint Louis).

If not, Marco’s e mail is mafabiani@gmail.com. That’s from a year-old list, but it might work. I show his phone number as 724-847-8736.

Yep, I played with Marco once or twice at Jim Barber’s house. I thought it was from Central PA though, I didn’t realize he was that close to us. I’ll try to contact him and let him know that we’re playing more regularly now. I have an e-mail for him, but it’s old too, so hopefully one of them will work.

I feel bad, as soon as Jim B. leaves Pittsburgh, we start playing on a regular basis. When he was here, we were only ever able to get one or two games together.

    Hail to All,

I’m Blake Taylor, and I’ve been playing Dawn Patrol since 1987. I first learned to play the game as part of a gaming club during my college days in Madison, WI, under the eyes of Master like Al Christensen, George Henion & Marty Stever. I reside in Milwaukee along with a rag-tag group of players who often play at our illustrious Grand-Pooba and designer’s home (thanks Mike Carr!). You’ll often see me at most mini-cons (I’ll be there March 09) and likely every other year at GENCON. I am definitely passionate about the game and look forward to trading ‘pot-shots’ with all of you. Cheers!!

Hello to all. I am Daniel Cotte. I’ve been playing Dawn Patrol on and off since the late 80’s in Puerto Rico. I attended a GenCon around that same time and met Mr. Carr and other veteran FITS members there. Since then I have played DP with small groups of friends in Puerto Rico and New York City. A year ago I moved to Mount Clemens, Michigan and have tried to participate in as many email games as possible while trying to find/establish a group of across the board players in my new area. In the near future I will try to attend some MidWestern US area DP events when family and work allows. Oh yeah, almost forgot, I’ve been a full time professional tattooist for the past 12 years. Yes, I have done my share of WW1 aviation inspired motifs on willing collectors. (The one in my avatar is on my arm…)

    Howdy, y’all!

I’m John Seibel and I’m rather new to the FITS/DP scene! In fact, I just flew my first two missions a few weeks ago at Mr. Carr’s house along with his regular crew! Thanks, guys! {they were nice enough not to flame me! } It was a lot of fun and I wish to fly a few more in the near future.

I’ve worked at the VA hospital in Milwaukee for the last 6.5 years and live in the Milwaukee area as well. If there is any other games going on in the area, just let me know! I’d like to join in if I can.

    An update to my introduction:
I have just moved back to the New York City area for work related reasons. If there are any DP players in the area please let me know. Thanks!

There are players in Sterling Heights, Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo, so hopefully you will be able to find some local games.
