When y’all play games with ground objectives, do you usually try to maintain balance — or do you just set things up with the notion, “Hey, this looks like it might be interesting, so let’s give it a whirl”?
I’m curious because I didn’t see any specific rules — or even any pre-made scenarios — that involve actually setting up games that involve balloon busting or bombing missions or reconaissance or other objectives that go beyond dogfighting. Oh, the rules definitely say how to resolve such encounters when they happen, but they don’t give guidelines for determining game balance in regards to setting up the elements of those encounters on the game board.
So … what do you recommend? Hopefully I didn’t miss something really obvious in the rules … *bites her lip nervously*
If a scenario is at low altitude a balloon is set up on a roll of 1 or 2 on a d6. If successful, roll again. If a 1 is rolled , another balloon is added. Roll again. ect.
I recently set up a game with 2 ballons (German, US) with 15 AA/MG around each position.Otherwise , you are left to your own devices. Set something up that all are willing to try. Make it fun. If a mission is extra dangerous and is successful , medal rolls could be made.
It’s a game. Have fun.
