MemberHello all,
Just wanted to see who all was planning on attending and which cames they were going to play.
I’ll be there Wednesday night through Sunday morning. I am signed up for three different Dawn Patrol games.
“The Lost Battalion” Thur. 8-12
“Bombing Run” Fri. 8-12
and “Worlds Largest” 8-12 I will be defending my title in this one and can only hope I am as ignored this year as I was last and can rack up the points again:)
albpilot has mentioned on the Indy forums that there will be a warm up game Wed night in south Indy. I was wondering if there will be anyone down town Wed night who would be up for a game or 2.

ParticipantI’ll be there. I understand I’m running three games, but George hasn’t told me which three yet!?

MemberI will e-mail the schedule to Andrew and if he can post here that would be great, I have not finalized all of the Judging slots yet based on real life commitments. I am staying downtown but am totally booked on Wednesday night.

ParticipantIf you want to make sure and include Dan on the email as well (should have an email link on the site here) just in case I cant post it for some reason, but yes we should have all Gen Con info on the site!!
I wish I could make it down, but have a wedding that Saturday. Any fall events planned? We may try & do a fall mini-con in MN based around when MC will be in town…

I think a MN M-C with MC MCing would be great. (ok sorry I didn’t get enough sleep last night and couldn’t resist)

I’d enjoy a MN M-C.

I think I’m the one running the Bombing Run scenario.

InactiveSo I am really jealous of all you GenCon go-ers. Please post some After Action Reports and any photos when you get back!
I am heading to Castle Rock Lake in WI for some camping with my church buddies. Hopefully I will have a catfish story or two.

Good luck with the fish – When I was a young pup I went to Boy Scout Camp on Castle Rock Lake. Watch out for strange canoeists.
The Con went well. Some events were short of participants. One was cancelled and in one the judge had to make a fourth. Some of the events were well attended, including a number of newbies who seemed enthusiastic!!
Personally, it was a good year. I only received one pilot hit (a light wound to a Bristol observer who survived) and dealt five hits. Out of the five hits I only got one kill. Steven Skinner’s Fokker D VII took two no effect wounds in the same mission. John O’Connell’s DH 4 crew took a dead observer and a lightly wounded pilot and crashed and died but I failed a 35% roll for credit. The one critical wound was Bruce Yoder’s Fokker Dr I which was enough points to win the World’s Largest DP event. Hurrah!
Not only did I receive only one light wound, I only had two other brushes with death and survived both. A D VII took seven engine hits but it just quit and I was able to glide to a landing in German lines. A Fokker D VIII took two critical hits, escaped, crashed at home, and survived.
There was one other brush with death I forgot to mention. I took one critical hit in a Fokker Dr I, but it was -30 turn speed, no banks, sideslips, fancies, or rotary rights. Fortunately, I rolled low to move last on the next turn. I moved my counter out for my move and explained to them the critical hit that caused me to bail on them. Then Mike Carr, one of my wingmen, said “er, didn’t you say ‘no banks'”? Looking at the board and realising I’d just done a bank I said some words we won’t repeat here and flipped my plane. Four turns and two overdives later I finally got out of the spin and went home safely to complete my eleventh mission.

InactiveSo I did have a nice catch after all – it was a strange fish that I have not seen before. It turns out it is called a Greater Redhorse and is part of the Suckerfish family (I didn’t see any teeth and the pics I found on the web match it exactly). Anyway here is the picture. We had great weather, hardly any bugs, and I actually was able to sleep pretty well (I normally sleep terribly in tents, etc). It was a great trip.

I need to borrow some of your luck, nice flying!

ParticipantYou’re welcome to the “crash at home after two crits” part of my luck.

MemberHey all,
I have around 15 pics from GenCon should I post them here or is there a Gallery that I should post them to?
I had a good con but missed my Thur. morning game due to a screw-up by our hotel. Fri. morning I flew a successful bombing mission that held off an Allied advance on our command post. Sat. morning was the big game and I did well with 50 some points splitting a kill with Allen C. which we cut for and I was lucky enough to get.
It seemed that there were a lot of new players at the table this year which is always a good sign.

InactiveSure – you can upload them to the forum here – or the gallery on your “My DP Page” – or you can email them to me and I can put them in the main gallery (this is probably the easiest for you just because the forum is 1 pic at a time).
