InactiveThis is an all day gaming event to try and get people of IL, MI, and WI together, but all are invited from other states if they want to make the trip!
Mike Carr will be in attendance.
We will have several tables of course, but there will also be a training table for newer players. We have a fledgling group of new players in Bartlett that have played at my (Dan’s) house. Mike and I have discussed this and he mentioned several people that would probably look forward to teaching newer players the finer points of the game. If you are in the area, you don’t want to miss this. It could be the start of a new official FITS squadron!
We will be doing a Two Game Total Points Competition for a prize as part of the day’s activities, plus a random drawing for another prize.

MemberI will be there, and like the idea of the formation of an Illinois Jasta!
For those who are considering traveling to this event, it appears that the closest hotel to the venue is also the cheapest; Extended Stay Hotel of Hanover Park is what to key your search for. Preliminary checks over several travel sites gives it the best rating by distance and price. I might be semi-local but I’m just thinking ahead, I know my g/f will likely drag me to the Cadillac Ranch afterward as soon as I mention Bartlett, lol.
I’m sure it’ll be fun, looking forward to it already. See you there!

MemberI plan on being there as well, as long as work cooperates. I have a friend in Chicago who wants to learn the game and this may be a perfect time.

InactiveAll,
Just a few notes on Saturday – so far we have 13 confirmed attendees with a couple of more that are probable attendees. There are still others that I have yet to hear from and plan to call tonight.
A note about the location:
We will need to begin the day in the upstairs multi-purpose room that is
quite large and should work well for us. This is due to the worship team
practice that will be happening in the sanctuary downstairs. We may choose
to just stay upstairs and not move our tables, but there is a very
comfortable Coffee/Kitchen area that has a coffee house feel to it (next
to the sanctuary). We may want to move down there in between games once the
worship team’s practice wraps up (around noon).I will try to be at the door to direct people to the upstairs gaming area, but if I am not just look for the signs (I will post a couple so you can find the right room).
Get those pilot sheets ready, my guns are hungry!

MemberSanctuary!… Sanctuary!!!!
Well if we play downstairs and we attempt to escape we can automatically just fly to the sanctuary instead of the three turn announce-to-escape rule right?

MemberI have a last minute emergency request:
My ride there is bailing on me, and I have to take the train to get up there. Is anyone able to pick me up from either the Hanover Park or Bartlet station (whichever is more convenient for you)? The train arrives at 9:26 to Hanover Park or 9:29 to Bartlet.
OR: Do any of you local players know if there are typically taxis stationed at either of those train stops?
Thanks for any info or assistance in advance!
Mark
***Edit: Situation resolved, whew! See you at Game Day!!! :woohoo:

InactiveGlad to hear it Mark – I was just coming to post that I could pick you up if no one else could. I was hoping to stay at the location to greet people though as I am the host

MemberI have bad news guys, I can’t get off of work. My 2nd job is at Sam’s Club and they are having a special event for the weekend before thanksgiving and aren’t allowing anybody off

Have a great time everyone.

MemberToo bad you couldn’t make it George. It WAS a great time!
Mike, thanks for bringing the stat sheets for me!
Dan, nice job setting up and running this event! If you could post the two-game point totals for everyone, that would be great.
I hope that from this the Illinois gang can organize some more game days. Granted, the holidays are already upon us and before you know it Gygax Con will be here. Still, it’ll be good to at least keep in contact and what-not.
And while I’m at it, let me wish everyone Happy Holidays. Hope to see you all again soon!

InactiveThanks Mark – it was a great time.
I will post the full totals sometime this weekend. I can tell you the winner though – it was you!
Winner of 2-game scoring tourney: Mark Stevenson
Door prize winner: Also Mark Stevenson!
Anyone who attended and paid the $5 to help with food/building costs was eligible for the door prize so you get to keep both.
I am holding onto your prizes for you. I can ship them out or can bring them to the next game night that we can schedule.
The prizes you won are a book (I forget the title at the moment) and ww1 desk calendar. I will post the title of the book when I can take another look at it.

MemberThat is great news! You can hold on to the prizes so as to both save shipping costs AND as incentive to plan on getting together again some time to throw dice…
OH MY, those points were accumulated with first mission pilots too… What luck, I might have to change my board name to SILVER bullets.
On another note, I finally got around to compiling my pilot list. I’m up to 25 pilots total, lol. But then again a lot of the fun is the perilous journey to becoming an ace, right?
I hope everybody has a Happy Thanksgiving! :woohoo:

InactiveFinal scores (note that some players only scored one game due to time constraints):
Mark S
+125
Jim Q
+75
Mark H
+53
Dan W
+33
Brian M
+27
Ken M
+26
Mike C
-4
Jim T
-13
Dan D
-31I appreciate those that spent time helping the newer players and even sacrificed some of their scores to do so. We did not get as many games in as we might have – but the time spent on each game was valuable.
Thanks again to all who participated.
Dan

InactiveI have been lax in posting the pics from the IL gaming day. I am about to start my holiday vacation and will try to post the pics by this weekend. If anyone else that attended has photos, then please contact me via this page..
