Visited the museum in Ottawa, Ontario, Can. this summer. True to form I forgot my camera and so only have low quality shots that I took with my phone.
While in Ottawa there was a ceremony to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Great War. 2 S. E. 5a replicas completed a fly over at parliament and then landed at the museums field so they’re not part of the museum’s collection but by happy coincidence I got to see them on the field and chat with their pilots. One of the 5a’s is painted to represent an aircraft flown by James McCudden (57 victories).
In the picture of the McCudden plane and its pilot he’s explaining flight characteristics to a kid he let sit in the cockpit, you can just see the white peak of the lucky kids hat.
In the museum’s collection I took pictures of a Bristol, behind which you can see a portion of an unrestored Junkers. To which you ask yourself why he didn’t take a pic of the Junkers, excellent question, for which I have no answer.
Also got a shot of a Camel replica.
