KeymasterAll,
As communicated to online players via email, here are the rules that were agreed to without objection, as of July 1, 2014.
Online Dawn Patrol “House Rules”
Approved as of July 1, 20141. All damage is “hidden damage”, to be witnessed by wingmen on the team window.
2. Tailing is “optional tailing”, using the four directional tailing cards.
3. If a two-seater is shaken by its target in a tailing chain, the observer may not target that same aircraft in the turn the pilot failed to tail.
4. Potential collisions are resolved with “The Alternative Collision Chart” (d10 system), as published in Aerodrome #98.
5. Pilot wounds are resolved using the standard Dawn Patrol wound charts (d6 system), as found on page 19 in the Dawn Patrol 7th edition rule book.
6. You may not turn after entering a square and perform a bank out of that same square in the same turn.
7. All pilot chances from all ground fire are “possible” hits only, requiring double 1’s to hit the pilot, regardless of whether or not the attack is head-on.I will be posting additional topics to gather input on the proposed rules that were suggested after my initial list was published, or that were the subject of discussion or debate. Please post your comments on those rules in the relevant forum topics. Thank you.

MemberI’ve been taking a long time to consider these questions. At first I was OK with all the proposed house rules. As I’ve read the discussion and thought about things I would have definitely objected to 3 and mildly objected to 4, 6 and 7.
I realize that the alternative collision chart has been the de facto standard. I’m just wondering why it’s considered an improvement over the original where you drew maneuver cards. I prefer the original because it hoses up your movement options when you’re in that situation.

1. Agree.
2. I don’t like optional tailing, but for speed I’d agree to it in online games.
3. This should be mandatory at all times. It makes no sense to allow observers a shot in this circumstance.
4. I prefer a third option. all pilots involved should have to choose maneuvers and be restricted by them while avoiding a collision. They’re busy dodging, not trying to get a good shot. However I like the possibility of non-fatal collisions. So, pick maneuvers to determine collisions, roll d6 (as proposed for ground collisions) for the effects.
5, 6, 7. Yes.July 3, 2014 at 5:57 pm #8070Chuckmedic
KeymasterAl, Dan D suggested that turning in a square and banking out should be allowed in a tailing chain, if you are doing a bank delayed by a square. Do you agree with that “exception” to the general rule here?

ParticipantNot a bit!

KeymasterGot it, thanks. I wanted a second opinion. A turn in + bank out allows a faux rotary turn, and I’m not sure why that’s ok whether in a tailing chain or not.

MemberI’m not too concerned about any of these. The actual impact on play is minimal. I think it is more important to have the list.
We can take a vote if any of these are too objectionable when a game starts.
