Scott Kolar
ParticipantAfter Action Report – Sunday 08/17/2014
I am sorry this is late. My schedule has become a bit more hectic lately and I am trying to find time to write this up.
Sunday evening’s game had six players for an even three on three match up. Ken S. and Kevan S. were flying Pfalz DIII’s with their flight leader Andy P in a Alb DVa for the Germans. On the allied side it was Chris O’Hal, John B and Scott K. as French in Spad VII 180’s. The Germans would definitely have the upper hand with two guns in this May of 1918 battle.
As you can imagine, the allies did not fair so well in this dogfight. However, Scott was able to put eight hits into Ken’s Alb through turn 4. Scott had two pilot chances on Ken’s pilot and missed on both. These could have been a deciding factor in the game, but it was not meant to be. Scott jammed his gun in turn four and would spend the next four turns trying to unjam it to help his wing men. In the meantime, John B would suffer a 1/6 tail crit. This cut his turn speed –20, with no sideslips, fancies or banks. His landing chance was also cut by 10%. Chris was holding his own and the game appeared as if it were going to break up.
But no, Scott was successful on his fifth try and unjammed his peashooter. He decided to once again go after Ken since he had previously put some lead in him on prior turns. But, Andy would have no more of this falderal and put a stop to it straight away. On turn 8, Scott was able to deal another 2 hits to Ken’s Pfalz. But Andy, being the top gun player that he is, put a hit into Scott’s engine. This hit would cause Scott’s plane to explode and rain French fodder upon the land. Andy’s pilot scored his second kill in just four games, destined to become “Ace point” (AP) material in some future, unknown battle.
John flew in and took another shot on Ken in turn nine. He would have stuck it out because after all there were “only three of them”. Instead, he jammed his gun on a long burst on the last shot and he and Chris decided it was time to amscray. Scott took a total of 25 hits for the team and sacrificed himself to save his beloved wing men. This is something to be proud of as he excels in this area!
That’s it from here. More death and destruction awaits us in our next exciting encounter. Won’t you be part of the mayhem? Join us on Roll/20 next Sunday evening 08/25/14 @ 7pm.
