KeymasterHi All,
We just wrapped Sunday night gaming. We started early, with a 4 player game at 6pm central. It was a mission in September of 1918, at medium altitude, that featured Graham and Dennis in British Camel 140s against Jim in an Albatros and TJ in a Fokker D.VI. TJ put quite a few bullets in Dennis’ plane, Dennis peppered Jim, and Graham shot up TJ. But there were no fatal blows, and the two German machines both escaped on turn 7. They made it up to clouds hanging above the battle. All of the pilots made it safely home. The game moved pretty well and took a little under an hour and a half, even with the Barber factor.
After game 1 Jim retired for the evening, but Scott joined in so that there were four players for game 2. TJ rolled up the German aircraft, and couldn’t have done better. TJ and Graham were German, both in S.S.W. D.IV’s!! The Allies, Dennis and Scott, were American SPAD XIIIs. The game started rough for the Germans, with them moving first and second. They boxed up, only giving the Americans 400′ shots at TJ. Unfortunately for TJ, Dennis hit him, and put one of the slugs in TJ’s pilot! The wound was critical. TJ, with a parachute, chose to bail out. But he failed the roll, and his pilot died. Credit Dennis with the kill.
On turn 2 the allies boxed up and Graham took, but missed, a tail shot on Scott (in the “mirror” position of the box). He wouldn’t miss again! He tailed successfully, and lined up a 100′ tail shot on Scott on turn 3. He hit for 9 hit factors, and hit Scott’s pilot with double 4’s. Graham’s pilot was the ace, Johanne Schmidt (11/5). Scott only suffered a light wound, and kept in the fight. Dennis put a couple of shots into Graham’s machine, including one engine hit. Scott shook Graham on turn 4, and Dennis was moving last. Dennis kept blasting away, but didn’t score many hits. On turn 5 Graham got another shot on Scott, this time a top shot. He put 7 hits into Scott, including another pilot hit! It was another light wound, making a critical wound in total. Scott fell OOC, and drifted in and out (mainly out) of consciousness until he ripped his wings off in an overdive. His pilot, Lt. Robert Martin (7/1) was killed in the crash. The turn Graham shot Scott for the second time, Dennis put 7 hits into Graham. He missed on two pilot chances, and hit Graham’s engine again … but no critical hits.
The next turn, turn 6, Graham beat Dennis for numbers, and Dennis dived away. Graham got a top shot, and hit Dennis 7 times, including another pilot hit! It was Graham’s third pilot hit of the game, and the third light wound. Dennis continued to dive away, and actually made it all the way safely down to the ground and to an emergency field. He landed and his pilot, Lt. Avery “the Wheel” Jameson, survived to fly again. So there were three pilots who took pilot hits, one of them being hit twice. Two of the three died. Only Graham made it away unwounded. Graham and Dennis each scored a kill, but Graham didn’t get credit for Dennis. Quite a bloodbath to end Sunday night FITS!
Next game scheduled for Monday, June 9.

ParticipantThanxs for posting Graham!!
Seems like the last few reports have had quite a few pilot hits reported…does it seem like they are happening frequently on roll20?

KeymasterThere were a lot in that second game yesterday!! I don’t think there are any more, on average, than there “should” be. I have scored fewer kills, and lost fewer pilots, on Roll20 than I do on average in face to face games. Also, I tested the random number generator on Roll20 and it passed as being “fair”. I’m not concerned at all about it being biased.

ParticipantYeah, it looks like a lot of pilot hits but that’s probably random chance. It takes several hundred games for the numbers to even out.

KeymasterAl, when can we get you to give the online game a try?

KeymasterChi square test. See the Vassal versus Roll20 string on this forum for full details.

KeymasterAl, I won’t ask the obvious question about how you’re posting on the forum without a computer. I will ask how a guy who worked in IT for his career doesn’t have a computer?!? Wait, maybe I just answered my own question.

KeymasterGreat! I’m happy to do it any time, Carl. Easiest is right before a game session, so you can go right into playing. How about This weekend? You will need a Skype account plus microphone and speakers (no camera necessary), and an account on Roll20.net.
Email me separately and we’ll set up the details.
