KeymasterWe played two quick games tonight, and introduced Jeff’s son Liam to the game. Both games were 2 on 2.
Game 1 was in August 1917, with two British Nieuport 17s (Jeff and Liam) against two Alb D.IIIs (Graham and Scott). The Albs surprised the Nieuports, with Scott missing his shot on Liam and Graham hitting Jeff for 8 hits. Graham then stuck on Jeff’s tail for 4 more turns, riddling Jeff badly. But one miss and a double jam on turn 4 made it possible for Jeff to escape. Meanwhile, Liam went to attack Scott, but did little damage with his single wing gun. Scott quickly turned the tables, and his twin spandau proved deadly. He quickly sawed the left wing off Liam’s Nieuport, and the British pilot plunged to his death. With one N.17 streaking for home, and the other plummeting to earth, the game was over.
Game 2 was lopsided in the other direction. It was October 1918, and the British (Liam and Jeff again) had Sopwith Snipes, up against two old, out of date Pfalz D.IIIa’s (Graham and Scott). The game started right at the ceiling of the Pfalzs, so Graham dove down on turn 1, stranding Jeff up high for a turn. Liam missed, then moved first on turn 2. The Pfalzs, though, were 30mph slower than the Snipes, and thus they got little to shoot at. On the following turn both Pfalzs moved first and boxed up, and the Snipes pounded Scott for 13 hfs from the sides of his machine. Luckily many of the hits found the rear fuselage. The Pfalz pilots had had enough, and declared escape. They dove away in opposite directions, with one Snipe pursuing each. Unfortunately for the British they both missed their shots on the diving Pfalzs! Graham then won numbers and got away; it only took Scott one more turn to evade Liam in the same fashion. All four pilots made it back safely to their airfields.
Next game is Sunday (tomorrow) night! See you there!
