KeymasterHi All,
Game night is a wrap for June 22. We had another good Sunday night turnout, with 8 people playing (and several visitors popping in to say hi and check things out). It was a Bloody April fighter battle, with British Pups (Carl F, Graham, Scott K, Stephen E) against three Alb D.IIIs (Jim B, Chris O, Jeff M) and a Fokker D.II (Ken). Ken Sawchuk was the new player tonight, and completed orientation before hand. I also took the Skinner clan (Stephen, Stephen Dale and Ethan) through the orientation, but they couldn’t play tonight. Stephen E’s wife Nicolle also watched and learned tonight, so she’ll be deadly the next time, when she plays.
The game lasted a full ten turns, with lots of shooting, but lots of misses, too. Scott K jammed his gun on the first turn; he hung around through turn 6, but unable to clear the jam, escaped. Stephen hit Jeff’s pilot (double 1’s) on turn 1, for a light wound. Jeff return the favor on turn two, hitting Stephen’s pilot (also double 1’s) for a light wound! Both of them stayed through the entire fight, kept in the mix of things, and retained consciousness. At the end of the game they both made safe landings at emergency fields, and lived to fly again.
Ken missed most of his shots — the opposite of beginner’s luck. Graham took 7 shots, all from 100′ or less, and missed three times. But the times he did hit he rolled three 6’s and one 5 for damage, dishing out 19hf of damage (mainly to Jeff). Jim — the German flight leader — seemed to be shooting all the time, but couldn’t score any decisive blows. He eventually jammed a gun while dealing 6 hits to Graham on turn 9. Carl was always in the mix, but with one gun couldn’t bring down any huns. Chris had to leave early (personal commitment), so escaped fairly early in the game. His pilot likely had a big date …
So, all 8 pilots lived to fly again. Given the narrow front and landings close behind the front, Stephen and Jeff both had chances for kills on each other. Stephen succeeded scoring the kill on Jeff, but Jeff missed his roll.
That’s all for tonight. Next game is Monday, June 23. Hope to see you there!
