KeymasterHi all,
We had 13 players on July 6, a new record! We split into two boards, with 7 on “Board 1”, and 6 players on the second board. Andy P is going to write up the mission(s) from Board 2. On Board 1 …
It was a Bloody April mission, but it didn’t live up to its name. Ethan Skinner and Graham had Roland D.II’s, Ken Sawchuk had an Albatros D.II and Mike Barker was in an Albatros D.III. The Brits brought up three Pups, played by Chris O’Halloran, John Buckland and Stephen Skinner. The first turn saw Chris moving first, followed by all four Germans, and the Germans started out 500′ above the Pups. But Chris wasn’t dissuaded — he climbed to meet them! The Germans didn’t execute very well, though. Ethan didn’t take a shot, and Ken left himself 200 feet back, while Graham and Mike closed in. The Germans still struck for 16 hit factors, and Chris escaped on turn 2, with riddled wings.
Stephen and John stuck on the tail of one German or the other, dishing out a few hits, and taking little for damage. They did a pretty good job tailing the guy with the lowest roll on the next turn! Stephen never struck for a lot of hit factors, but he did inflict a pilot hit on Mike. In keeping with the general flavor of the evening, Mike rolled a “1” for a no effect wound. John seemed to dish out a bit more damage, but nothing that would accumulate, as he ended up shooting at most (or maybe all?) of the Germans at one point or another.
Eventually John jammed a gun and then moved second, and he dove out of the fight. Stephen stuck around to fight 1 vs 4, but he dove away the next turn, after rolling poorly for initiative himself. Graham was the one with the best chance to get a shot (400′ tail!), but he decided to stay up with his wingmen, and the battle broke up. Mike rolled a 01 on his landing chance, just to prove that Stephen hadn’t really hurt him! No one else even had a critical hit, except Chris, and everyone landed safely at home base.
Next action is tomorrow night, July 7th.

ParticipantBoard 2 report-
We had myself, Kevan and Jim Barber in Camel 140s vs. Jeff, Liam and Carl F. in an Alb DVa, Fokker DVII, and Fokker Dr.1. This was a rock em sock em fest with the Allies moving early quite often. Both sides traded blows back and forth from the get-go, with Liam giving me a scare on turn 1, rolling double 2s for a pilot hit – and missing!
Both sides dished out best they could for 5 or 6 turns until the Germans drew blood first by causing Kevan’s Camel to start smoking. The Allies responded quickly though as their initiative got better, with Jeff’s Alb starting to smoke, and then a turn later the tag team shot by Jim and myself saw the Alb explode as a result of 7 engine hits. Liam, looking for revenge for his lost comrade, moved in on the smoking Camel, only to be pummeled by the tag team duo of myself and Jim, causing his Fokker to start smoking. The next turn saw the Allies go back to bad initiative though and with all three Camels moving first, the Germans decided to high tail away and live to fight another day!July 7, 2014 at 10:05 am #8113Chuckmedic
KeymasterHi guys,
Can one of the Board 2 players please let me know who got kill credit for Jeff’s alb? Also, I assume that Jeff’s pilot died but the others all lived? Please confirm. Thanks!

MemberGraham, Andy shot down Jeff. Jeff’s pilot did not survive.

KeymasterThanks Carl. Andy’s modesty makes it hard for me to keep the records straight! I intend to write a quarterly Aerodrome article summarizing our online action, hence my desire to keep tabs on things.
