    AAR for Friday 08/29/2014

We played one game this evening. It was July of 1918. For the Allies, Liam M. and Scott K. teamed up in British Camel 140’s against the Germans Jeff M and Andy P in a Fokker DVII’s for this off night Friday edition. Liam is Jeff’s son and it was a pleasure to have him on Roll/20 with us tonight. Liam is picking up the game real well and we look forward to seeing him on more games in the future. Besides, I think he enjoyed shooting his father up pretty good. B)

It was a very short, quick game that lasted only 4 turns. The Germans got the jump on the Brits and surprised them from the start. There were 3 banks of clouds in this low level, German Front game. We were flying in a 300’ gap in the clouds between 2900 and 3200 feet, so escaping was easy.

Andy managed to get 4 hits on Scott’s engine thru turn 3 and caused a no effect carb hit for smoke. Scott took a total of 24 hits from both Jeff and Andy. Most were spread out. But, the engine was the concern. Meanwhile, Liam was hosing his dad and put a total of 20 hits into Jeff and caused his engine to smoke. Liam also had three pilot chances on his dad. Scott put in one burst of six hits into Jeff on turn 2. Jeff ended up with 26 total hits. Andy evaded any hits on his plane the entire game, due to the poor shooting attempts by Scott. Liam took one burst of fire in the surprise attack from Jeff for a total of 5 hits with one pilot chance. Jeff missed his pilot and that was the only time Jeff would get to shoot.

On turn 3, Scott was ready to escape combat and did announce intention to escape. But, good initiative rolls for the allies gave him one last chance to get in some shots. On turn 3, Scott jammed one gun and Liam jammed both his guns! Scott missed his shot on Andy again, but Liam was able to hit his dad (Jeff) one last time.

With poor initiative for the Germans on turn 4, Jeff decided to head for the clouds with his smoking Fokker. The Allies had no guns and Andy followed his wingman. All players headed into the clouds and the game was over.

No one lost any pilots. There were a half dozen pilot chances and no one was hit. No one was scoring this game either.

Next game will be Sunday night, 08/30/2014 @ 7 pm.

I didn’t even know you guys were playing last night. Here I was, sitting around watching HBO’s “The Leftovers” and I could have been shooting at you guys instead!?! I have to read my email more carefully …

Is anyone up for playing tonight?
