Waaaaaazzzzzzzzzuuuuuuuppppppp!
Howz you all doin’?
I wuz asked if I wud, you know, rite about what it is I saws on Monday night, you know what I mean. So I sayz, “Yeah, why not. I could put the lead to the parchment and jot down some ditties. I hopes I recalls it ok cuz you know, sniffin all dat dare petrol fuel isn’t doin my brain a world of good, know what I mean.
Soes it’s October 1917 right and dees 4 foreigners, I thinks day was German DFW CV 2 seaters, come flyin around our planes, Nieuport 17’s, lookin for a scrap. Well, I’z not one to back down from noone, so I’m like, “Yeah, bring it on chumps!” Me and my friend Jeff over here, we aint afraid of no one, you know what I mean.
Now wit me shootin off my mouth like dat, we gots to show dees guys we ain’t afraid of nuttin. We has one wing gun apiece whilst our foe over dare are packin’. I mean days got like 2 heaters per plane, one front and one back. I’m like, “Holy $#^&!” But, bein flight leader and all I’z gots to keep my cool, gots to show dem brateaters that wez is tough, you know what I mean.
So were at 10,300 right, and day is at like 9900. We got the jump on um, right? Uh uh, cuz day sees us and starts divin for da dirt. We can’ts get close enuf to em to make any difference. Dat’s a big word dat I learnt whenz i gradeated terd grade. Whatta tink, impressive right! Fugetaboutit! Anyways, we takes ar long range shots and miss. I mean, wat can youz hit wit a peashooter anyways? Soes, day keeps divin and wez keep divin and wez are both shootin at each udder and not doin no sugnificant damage. Den, Chris and I’z dam guns, pardon me French, (but I’z really British), run out of lead. Chris is over dare signalin to me he’s out and I’z out so we are boat like trying to reload our junk and we just can’ts so we says “F dis”, bein polite and all cuz we dont want to offend, and we let the chumps fly away. Noone suffered no real damage, or as wez likes to call em “crits”.
So Chris and I, wez fly back to da Aerodrome for some grub. Wez are fillin out ar reports and all, and our CO comez over to have a chat. Accordin to some reports he received, we waz up against a couple of dem Aces I have hurd about. Now I’z like on my 3rd mission and Chris over here is on number 2. The guyz we was flyin against were (Andy) pilot 25/3 and obs 10/0 wit hiz bud (Carl Fritz) over dare wit pilot 13/1 obs 13/0. After hearin dat I’z gotta do laundry now cuz I just messed me last clean pair of skivees, know what I mean.

I was starting to think I went overboard and offended people. I should probably tone myself down. I always mean it in the best of fun.
