KeymasterHi everyone,
We had six players for a game last night, playing a pickup game organized by Carl P. It was May 1917, with three French Nieuport 17s, all with two guns (Carl P, Andy P and TJ), squaring off against three Albs (Jim B and Scott K in D.IIIs, Graham in a D.II).
There was some close-in action on the first couple of turns, and some nice French shooting that gave away their gun configuration. Andy landed 6 hits on Jim on turn 1, while TJ put 8 into Graham’s top. No crits for the Germans though, and they dished out some punishment too, with Graham hitting Andy 7 times.
After the first couple of turns things spread out a bit more. Graham and Jim used diving to separate Andy for a couple of turns, but the Alb’s performance, especially the D.II, made it very hard for them to get good shots. The Nieuports pilots used tailing to good advantage, tailing Jim early, and then Scott on a couple of occasions later on. The French armourer wasn’t popular, though. Carl jammed his deck gun on its first shot, and Andy jammed both of his. Carl’s sights seemed misaligned, too!
After several turns Graham broke off combat, tired of getting only long range shots and waiting to be killed (and because he had to get up at 5 am for work!). The game lasted a little longer, but eventually it broke up with no fatalities or victories scored. Scott did get away with just three hits left in one wing.
Carl and TJ were both scoring the mission. Carl came in at +25, taking no hits and dishing out little damage. TJ finished at +28, scoring and taking 13 hits.
Next regularly scheduled game is Sunday evening, when we plan to play the Pages from the Past mission from the most recent Aerodrome. I hope you can make it!

MemberShould add that I missed a 100 ft tail shot on Scott that would have been up a table after a successful tail
