My reports will be shorter than usual given my time constraints and the poor notes that I took during play.

Have you seen the TV show “Last Man Standing” with Tim Allen? Tonight’s match up made it feel that way, and here’s why.

Game one was in March of 1918. For the Allies, Chris O., Jeff M. and Scott K. teamed up in British SE5a’s against the Germans Kevan S.and Carl F. in Pfalz DIII’s and Andy P in a Fokker DR I.

In turns one thru five, Scott was able to put six HF into Kevan from the bottom, six HF into Carl from the bottom, and five HF into Andy’s bottom with an additional five HF into Andy’s side. That is a good amount of hits. Scott had four pilot chances and was not able to capitalize on them. During that barrage, Scott suffered no hits in his plane.

In the mean time, the Germans managed to take out both of Scott’s wingmen. Chris had opposing crits and was OOC. Jeff suffered a pilot hit (CW) and had to land immediately. On the way down, Chris was finally able to clear his crits and land safely. Jeff did make it down to land, going in and out of conciousness, and crashed on landing. His pilot did live on the percentage roll.

Meanwhile, Scott is looking around like where did they go. Unaware that his wingman had suffered wounds and crits, he thought they had left him to die and buggered off. Mind you, Scott had no damage to his plane and a fair amount of ammo left. Feeling abandoned, he was able to obtain good initiative and make good his escape.

Game two was September of 1918. This time, Scott found himself as a German in a Fokker DVII 185 along with Andy P. in a Fokker DVII 185 and Jeff in an Alb. The Allies were Kevan, Chris and Carl flying American Spad XIII’s. Scott came into the game a tad late (turn 2) because of another commitment he had to keep. On turn 2, Scott was able to hit from 400’ and put 2 HF into Ken’s plane. On turn 3, Scott was able to shoot at Chris, and missed from 200’ Once again, Scott’s plane suffered no damage. And once again, Scott’s wingmen were nowhere to be found. Andy’s pilot had taken a CW and had to land immediately. Andy’s pilot did die on landing. Also, Jeff M suffered a fuel pump hit and started to make his way down. This critical is a nasty one and Jeff wanted to try to escape and land rather than fly with this mess. Once again, Scott was left by himself with no damage and a lot of ammo. But, going up against three Spad XIII’s would have been suicide, and good initiative once again saved the day and Scott made good his escape.

The moral of the story is “don’t be Scott’s wingman”. That was two games in a row with virtually the same outcome and Scott was the “Last Man Standing”.

I hope this report doesn’t sound like it is “all about me”. I did not take good notes and can only go off the information that I had on my logs. I ain’t nobody special, that’s for sure.

Next game night is online Thursday 08/28/2014 @ 7pm. Be there!!!!!!
