    AAR 10/26/2014 – Game #2

Good evening and welcome to this Sunday evening edition of Game # 2 of our weekly online Dawn Patrol session.

Let me just start out by saying what a great time my wingman Ken and I had. We could not say that enough throughout the game. According to the final results, I think Ken had a lot more fun than I did.

Game #2 took place in Oct 1918. For the Allies it was Ken S (3/0) and Scott K. (1/0) in British Camel 110’s. For the Germans it was Carl F., Jeff Mc and Andy P. in Fokker DVI’s.

The Germans had the upper hand from the start with a surprise attack on the unsuspecting British. Ken and Scott were just flying along minding their own business (They are both just really great guys) when the Germans pounced on them out of the sun. Andy P took the 100’ top shot on Ken S., while Carl F. and Jeff Mc sandwiched Scott K. for 100’ top and bottom shots each.

SMOKE!!!!!! No surprise there. Scott took 20 hits in the first two, and only two, turns of play. On the surprise attack, Scott took a NE carb hit with smoke. That is just like a signal flare saying “Hey, come shoot me in the head!” Well, Jeff did just that. In sticking with his “Scott Killer” instinct, he put a bullet in Scott’s skull and sent him for an eternal dirt nap. Sleep well tonight Mr. McInnes.

Meanwhile, Ken S. did his best to hold his own and outrun the dirty filthy stinking Bosch. Ken lasted through turn 5 when he suffered a RW crit – Strut hit, which cut his climb by 50’ and dive by 400’ , no fancies.

Ken played very well and was able to outrun the Germans and escape back to the Aerodrome in turn six. The blood thirsty Germans were unable to catch him. Nice work Ken!

So, Jeff got ANOTHER kill on Scott. Scott lost a 1/0 pilot to Jeff, who definitely has Scott’s number. Scott continues his hot streak of being the most shot down online. I am sure Graham can confirm the stats.

If you need a kill, join us Monday night when Scott will present yet another pilot for your sporting pleasure. Until then, keep your feet on the ground and don’t get into an airplane if you know what’s good for you. ;)

Game one was set in July 1918, with four French SPADs (two VIIs and two XIIIs — Carl, Jim, Andy and Scott respectively) against a mixed bag of German fighters (an Alb D.Va, a Pfalz D.IIIa and a Pfalz D.XII — Graham, Ken and Jeff respectively). The battle started just below a cloud bank. The Germans managed to beat up on Andy a bit, but otherwise the damage was light. Andy took one critical hit. The Frenchmen kept Jeff under cards for a few turns, but couldn’t dish out much punishment at all. Eventually Andy took to the clouds, then Graham followed with both of his guns jammed long. The battle quickly broke up after that. No one was shot down.

    Graham
