Scott Kolar
ParticipantWell hello again everyone and welcome to the Sunday night edition of Virtual Dawn Patrol.
Tonight’s battle took place in February of 1918. For the Allies it was the J’s, Jeff McInnes, John Buckland and Jim Barber in British Spad XIII’s going up against Chris Ohal and Scott Kolar in Alb DV’s. You wanna know how this turned out without reading any further? Well, of course you do. Your probably sitting in your favorite chair or taking your morning constitutional, so read on!!!
Turn one saw everyone line up for shots and missing! The Allies had the height advantage (600 feet) allowing the Germans to take long range bottom shots. Everyone except “Down a table” John Buckland had a mission after turn one. It should have ended right there.
Turn two was not too bad for the Germans. Scott still had a 300’ bottom shot on John Buckland (flight leader) and managed to hit him for 2 hits. This is where things got ugly. That’s what she said! HA!
The next five turns (3-7) found the Germans in a bad way. The Allies rolled good initiative and started to use the might of their planes to let the Germans know they did not appreciate them being around.
In those five turns, Scott took a total of 30 hits! Chris took his fair share of damage from both John and Jim but was able to get away and escape, leaving Scott to fend for himself. This is what any good wingman with thoughts of self preservation should do. J J/K
Meanwhile, Jeff (Scott Killer) McInnes was all over Scott. Scott didn’t have a prayer (apparently he forgot his Bible back at the Aerodrome, dumbass!). Anyway, Scott ended up with a no effect engine crit (Oil gasket hit) and was smoking. Given the nature of his planes condition (30 hits, but flyable) and the fact that he was flying an Ace he did not want to lose, and his wingman had left him, and he was severely outclassed and outnumbered, and his experience level is no where near the caliper of his enemy, and he is kind of a putz, and the list goes on and on. Scott felt it best to turn off his engine and glide back to his lines before something happened he would regret. He made it back and landed safely. His pilot, Hauptman Reimund Tolkien, 13/2, had this to say about his experience, “I vas up against a verthy adversary. No doubt he vas a gud pilot unt his plane outclassed mine. But, he missed me, he missed me!!! Nanner nanner boo boo!!! Too bad for youwho !!!(sticking out his tongue):p, laughing and dancing and spilling his beer all over.
So, Jeff scored the kill on Scott. Jim Barber was scoring this game and had his score witnessed by his wingmen before submitting it to Graham. There has not been an official announcement regarding another contest for next quarter.
That’s it from the Aerodrome. Join us Monday evening for another great time of fun and camaraderie. Hope to see you there!

KeymasterContest will be back on for Q2. Same rules. Jim’s mission will count, but I didn’t get his score yet …
