ParticipantAAR Report Monday 10/06/2014
Good evening to everyone on the front. We played two games tonight with a total of five players in game one and four players in game two.
Game one was June of 1918 with the Allies (French) flying a Spad XIII (Carl Fritz) and two Spad VII 180’s ( Andy 37/6 and Scott 2/0) against the Germans (Carl Priest and Jeff McInnes) in Pfalz DIIIa’s.
The battle mixed up early in turn one. Everyone had a shot. Also, no one was too worried as we were flying 100’ above a bank of clouds. Child’s play, right? Well, in turn one, Carl Priest took a pilot hit from Great Shot Scott. Carl was a 13, and heading for the deck. Jeff had inadvertently gone into the clouds in turn one. He would return out of the clouds the very next turn, climbing back to 10,100 feet. Carl Priest went through the cloudbank with two of the Allies, Carl Fritz and Scott, following him down. At this point Carl P. was unconscious. Scott stayed on his tail, but did not target. Carl Fritz tailed as well and did take a shot at Carl in turn three, and missed. He was unaware at that point that Carl was taking a nap. Andy decided to hang around up above to see what Jeff might decide to do.
Carl P. did make it back to his efield, after having gone unconscious three more times on his way down. He suffered a LW and lives to fly another day! Well done Carl!! Scott was not awarded a kill. Carl voluntarily went down and landed his plane. I am pretty sure Carl knows what he is doing
. He has played this before.Jeff decided to dive down through the clouds to play with the Spads (Carl F. and Scott) at the lower altitude. Andy followed behind him to be on the ready. The Spads were much, much lower than Jeff. Being over 2000’ below, the Spads moved first, setting themselves up above the clouds (@ 4650’) to make an easy escape should the need arise. Carl Fritz did escape into the clouds. His plane had been hit pretty good in turn one. And, after a few turns of attempting to get a shot at either Andy (above) or at Scott (below), Jeff felt that it was not worth his time any longer to “play around” with the Spads and decided to evade combat.
Game two took place in August of 1918. It was a Front / Low German Ground Attack mission. Andy( Pfalz DXII) and Scott (Roland DVIb) took on Jeff McInnes and Carl Fritz in Bristols.
There was a lot of cat and mouse play through turn five. Some damage was dished out by both sides but nothing of any significance.
In turn five, Andy did hit Carl Fritz, causing his plane to smoke. Also, Andy did hit Carl’s observer, his condition unknown. Carl did announce escape on his next turn and with good initiative he was able to dive away out of the fray to bring his plane down and land. Carl did crash on landing with a rough wing set down. Both his pilot and observer survived the landing. Carl’s observer did receive a CW from Andy, but was treated at a nearby field hospital and released after several weeks.
Jeff did last a few more turns trying to win initiative over the Germans. But both Andy and Scott were able to beat Jeff out in initiative rolls and continued taking side attacks on Jeff.
The damage was mounting for Jeff and because he was unable to win initiative, he dove into the clouds and was not seen again.
Join us next week on Roll/20. We are on every Sunday and Monday evening at 7pm. Come on, you know you want to.

ParticipantIt should be mentioned that no one scored either of tonight’s games. There were no kills scored either. Just a good time had by all.

KeymasterHow come everyone seems to be able to survive pilot hits except me and John Buckland? Every crewman hit I take seems to be a death sentence, and it is about the same for John.

Graham, I’m afraid Jeff has got it right.
